Pumpkin Hummus
To make this delicious dip you will need; 1 cup of pureed pumpkin, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of water, 1 can of rinsed and drained chickpeas, a tablespoon of honey and salt to taste. Fry garlic in the oil on a low heat for approximately 15 minutes. Now add all the ingredients to a blender and blitz until smooth. Serve and enjoy.

Another Halloween-synonymous treat is candy corn, with their cute orange, yellow and white stripes. These little nibbles are irresistible over the spooky season but are loaded with sugar and are not great for your diet. Rather replace them with actual corn.

Sweet Corn Fritters
To make this sweet recipe take, 11 oz sweet corn kernels, 2 eggs, 3 1/2 oz plain flour, a teaspoon baking powder, one chopped and deseeded red chili and a handful of chopped coriander. Put the dry ingredients, the eggs, and half of the rest into a blender to make a batter. Add the rest and fry in a pan with some oil and cook up to two minutes on each side on a medium heat.

Healthify the Peanut Butter Cup
This may be one of the hardest ones to avoid this Halloween. Unfortunately, these peanut butter cups may not be the healthiest choice on the menu. And as we all know, one leads to two, leads to three. However, there is a way to enjoy this nutty treat without the guilt.

Peanut Butter Cups
To start you will need 3.5 oz of good quality dark chocolate (dairy or dairy-free), ½ cup of organic peanut or almond butter, ½ tablespoon of honey, ½ tablespoon of coconut flour. Firstly melt down your chocolate, 2018 heating it in a bowl over boiling water. Line a mini muffin tin with liners. Once the chocolate is at the desired consistency – add a teaspoon to the liner and cover the bottom and the sides. Freeze until hard. Now add the peanut butter, honey and coconut flour in a bowl and combine until smooth. Spoon half a teaspoon of peanut butter mixture into your cup and top off with more melted chocolate. Wait for it to set and enjoy.

What Halloween party would be complete without a designated punch bowl? However, having a drink after drink can quickly rack up the calories and sugar intake. To curb this, there are many healthier (but just as yummy) punch alternatives that you could opt for.

Spiced Hot Cider
To start you will need 16 cups of organic apple cider (or juice), 8 whole cloves, 8 whole allspice berries, 8 cardamom seeds, 2 cups apple brandy, and 8 cinnamon sticks. Tie all the spice, apart from the cinnamon in a cheesecloth. Add the cider and the spices into a slow cooker and cook on high for two hours. After the liquid cools down, stir in the brandy and serve – garnish with some apple slices.

This Halloween does not have to be candy and carbo-loaded, with a few simple recipes you can host a healthier party without feeling guilty about indulging this holiday.
